Tampa Bay outfielder Wil Myers breaks his bat during the Rays' 7-2 victory in a spring training game at Charlotte Sports Park in Port Charlotte, Fla., on Tuesday, February 26, 2013. The game was shortened to 5 1/2 innings by rain.
PORT CHARLOTTE — The very first pitch Tampa Bay starter David Price threw resulted in teammates, coaches and fans holding their breath.
That’s because Houston lead-off hitter Marwin Gonzalez drilled the pitch right back at the left-hander, hitting him on the wrist of his pitching hand. Shortstop Ben Zobrist scooped up the ricochet and recorded the out at first.
