Monday, Oct. 8, Nick Castronuova opens his third restaurant in this area, Il Panificio, 4191 South Tamiami Trail in Venice Village Shoppes. It’s an Italian pizzeria, bakery, market and deli serving appetizers, deli sandwiches, bakery items and desserts made daily in brick ovens.

They feature 20 kinds of pizzas by the slice, with entrees including spaghetti and meatballs, chicken Milanese, sausage and peppers, clams or mussels with pasta. No sugar, shortening or preservatives are used in the dough.
