Residents and staff of Village On The Isle braved a hot June afternoon Tuesday to attend the dedication of the Cottages at Village On The Isle.

The Rev. Gale Williamson, chair of the Village On The Isle (VOTI) Resident Council, Tom Kelly, VOTI CEO, the Rev. D.D. Edward Benoway, bishop of the Florida-Bahamas Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and Bill Schmidt, president of the VOTI trustees, cut the ribbon at the dedication of the Cottages at Village On The Isle Tuesday afternoon.

The sole gap in the housing options offered at Village On The Isle, Venice’s only continuing-care community, has been filled.

The Cottages at Village On The Isle community was dedicated Tuesday in front of an audience consisting of local dignitaries and dozens of residents and staff. The community consists of seven cottages along a short meandering access road, giving residents an independent-living alternative to an apartment, which VOTI also offers.
