Hostess Barbara Isaacson, who as ‘Auntie B’ has welcomed guests to TJ Carneys for the past 11 years, stands outside the Irish Pub, which is closing in a few days to be replaced by The Brew House. She will be at Pineapple’s until October when she and the staff open the new family sports bar.

A new vision is coming as the wind of change blows strongly in historic downtown. Popular for tourists and families, featuring star entertainers, the landmark Irish Pub and restaurant that opened 15 years ago is closing.

Projected to open by Oct. 1 is The Brew House, replacing TJ Carney’s Grill & Restaurant at 231 West Venice Ave., as again owner Tom Carney brings a new vision to Venice. Three years ago, he revitalized the evenings by introducing the era of the late crowd dining when he opened Pineapple’s Grill.
