Nationally, August home sales soared to their fastest pace since February 2007, while local single-family sales for the same month remained virtually unchanged from a year ago, and were down about 10 percent from July.
But at all levels, homes are being sold at significantly higher median prices than a year ago. The median price is that level at which half the homes sold for more, half for less.
