County ended up in weeds over mowing
If there were a sliver of doubt left about the depths of Sarasota County’s problems with procurement and management of contracted services, the latest audit of a mowing contract should wipe it away.
First, it’s fair to point out that new County Administrator Randall Reid and county commissioners ordered the audit because they recognized the countywide mowing contract signed in January and terminated in May was such a major screw-up. Beyond the “how,” the audit could be used to determine “how much” was owed either the contractor or the county.
