Maria Burris, age 86, of Nokomis, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013.

She was born in Naples, Italy, April 29, 1926. She met the love of her life, Jim, during World War II. Jim returned to Italy to marry Maria after the war. She moved with him to Ohio, and then, in 1955, they moved to Nokomis from Circleville, Ohio. She was a member of the Elks lodge and the American Legion. Maria’s passions were bowling and line dancing.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; daughters, Mary Lenari (Bob) of Sarasota and Vicki Eggleston (Doug) of Englewood; son, Larry of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; grandchildren, Anthony Lenari and David and Robert Burris; and nephews, Tony, Randy and Joey Buford. Maria was preceded in death by her sister, Josephine Buford.

Services: Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Epiphany Cathedral, Venice. Burial services will be private.
