Adelino M. Coelho, 84, departed peacefully with his family at his side Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 41 years, Pat; his children, John (Denise), Michael (Carol), James (preceded by wife, Donna), Manuel (Elaine), Linda, Joseph (Lisa), Marysia (Robert); 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Pat Simao; nephews, Carlos and Danny; and many friends in Florida and Connecticut.
Born in New Bedford, Mass. Saturday, Jan. 12, 1929, and raised in Portugal, he moved to Hartford, Conn., where he raised his family. He owned Al & Al Barber Shop and Personal Tee. He served as the Exalted Ruler of the Manchester, Connecticut Elks Club and served on the Manchester board of directors for four years.
Al retired to Florida in 1998. He served on the board of directors for the Venice Gardens HOA and was active in the Knights of Columbus, Habitat for Humanity and the Republican Party. He loved gardening, the Red Sox, the Patriots, U. Conn women’s basketball, traveling and spending time with friends and family. His kindness and unconditional love for others were an inspiration to all who knew him.
He will be remembered for his inner strength, courage, determination, humor, caring spirit, generosity and love of life.
Services: Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with burial to follow at Venice Memorial Gardens. To send condolences, visit www.farleyfuneralhome.com.
