More baseball honors and tourneys

The USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C., will host the 16-team 2014 National High School Invitational. Venice High will participate in the NHSI for a second consecutive year.

The individual accolades continue to pile up for Venice High baseball players Mike Rivera and Cooper Hammond, both of whom were named to Baseball America’s All-American teams Wednesday.

Rivera, who earned second-team All-American honors, hit .528 (1.431 OPS) as a junior with one home run, 28 RBI and three stolen bases.
