Not long ago, a friend, Huss Malik, who was a major contributor toward assisting the Bike/Walk Venice committee in preparing our application for Bicycle Friendly Community, recommended I read a book. The book is entitled “Just Ride” and was authored by Grant Petersen. Huss assured me it was a quick worthwhile read.
The book touched on a number of subjects about bicycles such as maintenance, proper fit, tires, selection, rules, etc. But the most poignant piece of the book I took away was Petersen’s approach to casual cycling. Although he had competed in various bike races in his younger days, he later came to realize the real purpose for riding a bike was the pure pleasure.
