Venice High catcher Mike Rivera already has two state titles and the distinction of All-American on his resume. He might soon earn the chance to add “world champion” to his list of accolades.
Rivera is currently participating in the USA Baseball 18U national team trials in Los Angeles. The six-day training camp concludes today, when the pool of 40 players will be cut in half. The remaining 20 will comprise the U18 national team that will participate in the International Baseball Federation World Cup in Taiwan starting Aug. 30.
