It’s been months since my wife and I were able to get out and fish together. We decided to sleep in a little this past weekend then head out to a lake close to the house where we have had some luck at in the past. The weather wasn’t the best as one of our fall cold fronts blew in, but one thing I can tell you is that when the baitfish clump up the bass still eat.
We started out from the boat ramp and idled slowly across the top end of the lake to a shoreline opposite from the boat ramp. It was really foggy and I knew there was a tournament going out of the other end of the lake. Where we were headed was a popular spot, so I thought it would be best to simply run slowly and listen for the sounds of oncoming boat motors. It wasn’t too long before I could make out the shoreline through the fog. We pulled the boat along the grassline and started casting and flipping soft plastic baits near the edge of the weeds.
