If you read this publication, you probably enjoy spending time outdoors. If you’re really lucky, your spouse or significant other enjoys spending time outdoors too. But if not, Valentine’s Day (that’s today, for those of you who are calendar-challenged) is the perfect opportunity for you to drag him or her out of the house.

The key here is to select an activity that you can both not hate. For example, I don’t take my wife fishing because I know she won’t have any fun. She doesn’t like the hooks sticking in the fish. At least she’s OK with me going fishing. Besides, there are lots of other things we can do outdoors together: She really digs hunting fossils, she loves shelling on the beach, and she likes hiking so long as it’s not too hot. Today, we’re somewhere in the Southwest Florida wilds doing one of those three things (but I’m not telling you where — go find your own fun).
